The Scouting movement is always looking for volunteers to help, if you are prepared to give some time there is a role in which you can help.

Scouting is run by volunteers, with people giving as much time as they can to give our young people experiences and opportunities. You can help either in the direct delivery of scouting (click here for role descriptions):

  • Section Leader
  • Assistant Section Leader
  • Section Assistant
  • Occasional/Parent Helper
  • Young leader

The more volunteers we have, the less work there is for all. Do not worry if you have not been involved in scouting before, we provide all of the training and safety checks that are needed. If you are interested in a direct delivery role in any of our sections, please contact gsl@1sthartfordscouts.co.uk.

If a direct delivery role is not for you, consider becoming a member of the Group Executive to help with fundraising, or to provide a specific skill that you have (such as IT) to support and facilitate group activities. If you are interested in supporting 1st Hartford Scouts please contact chair@1sthartfordscouts.co.uk.

If a more practical role is for you, consider joining the group’s active support unit (ASU). Our ASU help maintain the Scout Hut and grounds as well as helping to look after our equipment.

No matter how much time you can give, or how often you can commit, if you are willing to help please contact us to discuss the role you can play in the delivery of Scouting in Hartford.

Please note: Most roles require a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before you can take up the role.
